After a few seconds, Allie said to him, "Honey.. Honey... " and then a few words in Allie-ish that we don't understand.

She Laughs

Even though Mom had explained earlier in the day to Allie that the animals at the zoo would be far away and that she could not pet them....
Allie found that SOME animals were very accessible.

Late this afternoon, Jennie, Allie, Luke and I bolted for the Columbus soon. We're finally using that family pass we bought last June around Allie's birthday.
In June, the lions were asleep and ignoring us.
Today, all three lions were sitting up and looking around at us. Allie said several times, "Hello Lion."
And, of course, "reeeaowww."

The Whole Truth.
The Bible tells us something very important in 3 John 1:4."I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."
I would agree with that, and we pray regularly that Luke and Allie would know the most important truth of all - that God so loved them, sent Jesus Christ to die for them, that they would believe in Him and have eternal life.
That's the greatest truth of all.
Somewhere below that truth, or the excitement of that truth, exists another level of truth.
Another joy a parent feels.
One of my joys is when I see my son wearing Orange and Brown.
I cannot totally explain it. One day, he could hate me for it. He'll hear me talk about Earnest Byner, Bernie Kosar, Hanfor Dixon, Kevin Mack, and Bob Golic.
Upon Luke's birth, the Browns are one of the most despised franchises in all of sport. These are the Browns of Ryan Pontbriand, Trent Dilfer, Kellen Winslow (injured for TWO seasons already), and (gulp) their best player is Orpheus Roye (who?)
But the Browns are on their way up again. New General Manager Phil Savage has had the best tour de free agency of any exec in the league. They will draft well, improve, and make the playoffs in 2006. (Yeah, right).
Okay, at least they're headed in the right direction. Hopefully Luke will WANT to watch them in a few years. Can't explain why I still root for them. Well, I guess it IS all about my roots. I've always been a hometown guy, and that's not going to change. So it's sweet to see Luke in orange and brown, even if it puts him to sleep (which, incidentally, is also a good thing).

Saluting the Hoop King...
Tonight, for our neighborhood small group, Allie wanted to pay tribute to her roots.When we put this jersey on, it was like she took her cute daughter game to a whole new level.
When it was time to go to sleep, she cried her eyes out when dad told her the jersey had to come off.
Pro Basketball star Lebron James is from Akron. So is Allie.
James has lots of friends and is good at what he does. So is Allie.
Lebron likes pizza and ice cream and cookies. Um, ditto for AU.
Lebron is creative when the spotlight is on him, and rises to the occasion. Let's be honest - so does Allie.
Allie has already watched several games of the playoff-bound Cavs and Lebron in recent months.
This afternoon, sporting the jersey, Dad tried shamelessly to teach her to say, "Lebron." The first several times, all Allie could spit out was "Bron" or "Bron Bron." This kid already knows his nickname, and what LBJ's homies from Akron call him.
The other day, Allie and I watched Lebron lead the Cavs to another fourth quarter victory.
I could tell she was really becoming a Lebron James fan when she ran up to the television and shouted, "Go Bucks!"
That's my girl.
The Red Carpet...
The Paparazzi at the Grace Family Daycare caught Allie Underwood unawares. Here she is in a new spring outfit from Gap Kids. She gets a B+ for fashion and an A+++ for personality.

Here comes Allie, ready for the Daycare spring concert. She and her "pre-tot" cronies belted out the sweetest little lyrics to 'the B-I-B-L-E' you've ever heard. Over three hundred people were in attendance to hear Allie on stage. Okay, she was on stage, but spent most of the time staring at the boisterous little dude next to her. I think she clapped once, and smiled more than once.
at this pace, Avril Lavigne (or any other female musician) will have some competition in the near future.
Allie's definitely cuter than any of them.

Bounce
Dude loves his bouncy seat, even if he doesn't understand it. Allie tries to show him the noisemakers and such, but dude just enjoys life as it is.
Being three months old is great for him. He will smile at just about anything, and it's so fun to capture on film. Especially when your other child is in that "run from the camera" stage.

Buds Already...
Here's Luke with new friend Everett Burns. Some of you know by now that Tom Burns (Everett's dad) is a long-time great friend of mine, and he's now joined us in ministry at Delaware Grace Brethren Church.
Everett and Luke are in for some good times.
Somehow, though, it seems like Allie is having the most fun here. What else is new?

Back when i was a blogger
Here I am again, during a commercial of NCAA basketball. A few random observations about life...
- I have an awesome wife. Jennie does a great job of loving me, loving God, loving people, and loving our kids. She's an expert at showing love and kindness. I don't deserve her - she is a great, great gift.
- I have a funny daughter. Cute as all get out. She likes to run in circles till she falls down. She likes to repeat the last word of my sentence. She likes to laugh spontaneously. She likes to shout "Go Buckeyes" regardless of whatever happens to be on TV.
- LSU beat Duke. Gotta love seeing David beat Goliath. But LSU outmuscled and outhustled them. Their one dude was nicknamed "Big Baby" but was built like Karl Malone. How can a big guy like that tolerate being called "Big Baby"?
- Speaking of "Big Baby," Luke is 3 months old, and I'm about ready to carry that 18 pound load upstairs. I'm procrastinating, cause I know it will be a workout. Plus, I "get" to change his diaper.
- I am preaching on Luke 15 this week. Why do Christians often only make friends with Christians? Jesus made it a priority to hang out with "tax collectors and sinners," and they loved hanging around him. Makes me think Jesus wouldn't have been a pastor at all. If he was, it would be at one of those seeker churches. Doubt that? Read the Gospels again. Especially that part about Jesus coming to seek and to save the "found."
